The Strongest Q1 in Five Years

The venture capital industry is one of the cornerstones to funding the next generation of innovative businesses and companies. Like the rest of the economy, venture capital funding took a big dip during the recession, but now it seems to be on the upswing. According to the National Venture Capital Association, venture capital-backed companies had the best opening quarter in five years. Here's a look:

In the first quarter of 2012 we've seen more venture-backed companies go public while raising more total money through the IPO process--a trend we've seen in the past years. If the industry keeps it up throughout the year, it'll be one more sign of an economic recovery.
