Tapestry 2015 Announcement

Posted by Tara Walkeron August 18, 2014

We are happy to announce the third installment of the Tapestry conference on storytelling with data: Tapestry 2015. It will take place on March 4 in Athens, GA. Following the tradition of the last two years, this is the day before NICAR, and we’re close by as well (NICAR will be in Atlanta, GA). We will also again provide transportation to NICAR for those attending both events.

The conference will feature many of the same traits that have made it so popular: beautiful, historic setting (The Foundry Park Inn), intimate size (just over 100 people), great food, great speakers, and great conversations. We are also keeping the format the same: three keynotes and five short stories, as well as posters and demos. The poster program will be a bit more academic this year, however, and you can apply to give a short story.

We are honored and happy to announce the first keynote: Hannah Fairfield, Senior Graphics Editor at The New York Times. Hannah has done outstanding work at The Times as well as The Washington Post, where she has created fascinating stories based on data, and broken new ground with her visual representations and explanations. The other two keynotes will be announced over the next few weeks.

Two of the short stories are also set: Chad Skelton, Data Journalist at The Vancouver Sun, and Ben Jones, Tableau Public Sr. Product Manager. You could be one of the remaining three, so let us know what you want to talk about and we might pick your entry.

Head over to see the Tapestry website to request an invitation, and to see a highlight reel of the conference earlier this year. You can also watch all the talks from this year and last year on our YouTube channel.
