Iron Viz Europe Contest FAQs

Back to Contest Page

The Iron Viz Europe Contest is a chance to prove your visualization chops and win big.

What are the terms of participating?

Any resident of Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden or the United Kingdom not employed by Tableau Software can participate as long as they follow our guidelines and rules.

How many entries may one person make?

Please limit your entries to 2.

What if I submit an entry early, and then later re-work my viz and want to replace my first entry?

That’s fantastic – feel free to do that up until the close of the contest. Tableau Public automatically supports updates to your viz. You do not need to resubmit your entry form, simply update your workbook, by overwriting the file on Tableau Public. Your embedded viz will automatically update on the webpage you have posted it. We won't look at the entries until the end of the submission period, so update them as much as you want.

Can I really use any data?

For the Iron Viz: Europe Contest, you can use any data set(s) you find interesting, provided it is about European cities and legally can be shared online. Please be considerate of others, and do not use a data set that might be found overly offensive.

Where can I find data about European cities?

For the Iron Viz: Europe Contest, you have to use data about European cities to create your viz. There are many places that you can find data about Europe; have a look at our blog for a start.

Sharing is caring!

Tableau Public is all about sharing, so please enable 'Download' on your published viz. That way others can learn how you made your viz.

Who can I contact if I am having problems with Tableau Public?

You may contact Tableau at public@tableau.com, please include Viz Contest in the subject line.

How will the three winners be chosen?

A panel of judges comprised of Tableau employees and two special guests will evaluate all submissions based on the following criteria:

  • Design
  • Storytelling (note does not have to use the StoryPoints Tableau feature)
  • Analysis

More information about scoring and judging can be found in the contest rules.
