AT&T has been been making a good deal of noise lately about how great mergers are for cellular subscribers. Being the natural skeptics that we are, we decided to take a look into the data ourselves. Yes, consumer cellular costs have decreased slightly over the past eight years, but production costs have decreased by over 30%, and profits are up by almost 200% at AT&T. So yes, mergers are good for consumers, but they are GREAT for AT&T.
As you can see, profits at all three major carriers are up. If you click to the second tab, you can see the mergers that preceded these profits.
