The hacker: a lone technologist laboring in the dark, headphones on, dark circles under the eyes.
The hack: a disheveled journalist seeking truth, notepad in hand, dark circles under the eyes.
They have so much in common.
Aside from the dark circles, they are both seeking a better way. And even though their mediums are different, they can help each other. Journalists are seeking new ways to tell stories through video, data visualization, social media and other yet-to-be-conceived tools. Hackers are looking for compelling problems to solve that can have an impact on a great number of people.
Hacks/ Hackers is a national group bringing these two groups together. The vision of the group is to re-invigorate journalism with cutting-edge technology. On March 29, the Seattle chapter is hosting a demo event to show off what’s being done and kick off some interesting discussions.
Tuesday, March 29, 2011.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Demos begin at 6:30 p.m.
Small tasty things & drinks will be served.
