A Link to the Best Reviewed Videogame Franchise

One of my fondest memories as a kid was stabbing monsters with a trusty sword and saving captured princesses--figuratively of course. It's been a long time since that very first Legend of Zelda videogame on the Nintendo, but years later, we're just days away from yet another installment in the long-standing franchise.

We've seen decades of new games since then, new franchises and new ways to immerse ourselves. And as the number of games has increased, so has the number of people playing them--and the people whose job it is to scrutinize them. After all these years, are there any franchise gems that stand out from the rest?

All the Halo games have been incredibly well received, and the recently released Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has smashed sales records.

But it seems that with its latest installment, the Legend of Zelda continues to hang on to its crown. It's truly a franchise that continues to enchant even the harshest critics, even 25 years after its humble beginnings on an old gray Nintendo box.
