The team here at Tableau Public loves helping to train journalists to use Tableau Public to create data driven news stories. We try to go to several journalism events a year, hold our weekly trainings, and work directly with journalists to help them create visualizations to accompany their articles. We would like to do as much as we can to get even more journalists up and running with Tableau Public, which is why we are trying out a new training program: the Tableau Public for Data Journalism 5 week course.

This course will be targeted specifically for journalists who are just getting started with Tableau Public. We will cover the basics of data formatting, visual best practices, chart types, mapping, interactivity, and storytelling. The course format will include live webinars (these will be recorded for those who can't make it), viz assignments, discussion boards, and office hours. The course load will be about 3 to 5 hours a week. The course will last around 5 weeks and start sometime in late March/early April, depending on interest.
