What’s New in 9.1
Instant Visual Analytics
We introduced the new Analytics Pane in 9.0, which lets you drag reference lines, forecasts, trend lines, box plots, and other analytics right onto your view. We also gave you the ability to create calculations right in the view by typing in field names and functions, and answer tough questions by specifying the exact level of detail right in the calculation. These features get even better in 9.1, with the addition of median lines in the analytics pane, and the extension of the calculation editor to filter dialogs.
Here at Tableau we are always improving our software. In Tableau 9.1, we're adding a new Product Updates feature to Tableau Desktop that will make it fast, easy, and convenient for you to update to the most recent maintenance release available. You'll have options to: Download and install at exit, skip the update, or be reminded the next day, so you can be sure that you have the best possible product on an ongoing basis.
Take a look at our Viz of the Day page, and you'll immediately notice how important maps are to our authors. We teamed up with Stamen to redesign our maps in 8.2 and added Map Search, U.S. census data, and locations for every continent in 9.0. Now in 9.1 we give you the ability to lock pan and zoom, and the radial select tool gives immediate distance measurement feedback. Tableau maps just keep getting smarter.
Data Connection and Prep
We added the powerful Tableau Data Interpreter in 9.0 that makes it easier than ever to visualize cross-tab style spreadsheets. And now in 9.1 the new Web Data Connector lets you bring any web data source into Tableau. Find prebuilt connectors from Tableau and the community, or write your own.
