How many people benefit from SNAP? There are roughly 47.7 million Americans on food stamps, a number that swelled during the recession and has only recently started to decline.
Who is eligible for SNAP benefits? To recievie benefits, partcipants do not make a net monthly income of more than $948 (single person household) or $1,963 (household of four). A majority of the households have some employement, and around 90% do not recieve cash welfare.
