Combating climate change?
The European Union Emissions Trading System (EU ETS), established in 2005, puts limits on companies' allowed carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions. These companies are able to buy and sell their emission allowances, creating the world's first major carbon market. In this visualization, one of our three Iron Viz Europe finalists, Simon Stusak, takes a look at manmade greenhouse gas emissions to determine whether the EU ETS has been successful in its attempt to combat climate change.
